Two weeks ago, we launched a major update to the PwrOn experience, enabling the booking of portable power for anything, anytime, anywhere. Today, we’re thrilled to announce our next major milestone: PwrOn is expanding to the San Francisco Bay Area and launching our first-ever retail partnerships with two incredible, community-focused Ace Hardware stores! This is a huge step forward in our mission to make portable power accessible to everyone, and we’ve been hard at work improving the PwrOn experience along the way.

Entering the San Francisco Bay Area:

We’re delighted to announce that we’re entering the San Francisco Bay Area. This is a large (~ 7.5M population), dynamic region, and our first market outside the greater Seattle area. Like Seattle, people in the San Francisco Bay area enjoy outdoor activities amidst nature’s beauty and have broad portable energy needs, but also experience above-average power outages.

While we see a wide variety of uses for booking portable power, we recognize that residential power outages are a tremendous consumer pain point. Unfortunately, residential power outages are increasing as extreme weather causes large outages, and we further strain our aging electrical grid with large loads, like AI data centers and the electrification of everything. PwrOn’s portable power solutions help consumers and businesses conveniently find affordable, clean power while providing additional power resilience right in your community, enabling new portable use cases.

Starting Two Local Ace Hardware Store Trials:

Ace Hardware has a well-deserved reputation for customer service, is a cornerstone of the communities they serve, and has a well-established identity: “Ace is the place with the helpful hardware folks.” Ace Hardware stores are a great partner for PwrOn, bringing portable power to support local communities, because they are already a known, trusted, and credible retailer.

Ace Hardware is very well-positioned to help consumers experiencing power outages, and PwrOn is delighted to partner with two innovative and successful Ace Hardware stores in the San Francisco Bay Area. The two stores, Hassett Ace Hardware in San Mateo and Los Gatos Ace Hardware, serve communities in two counties where power outages are especially problematic.

We’d like to thank the management teams of these two stores for their collaboration as we build a new market for portable power. Together, we will make it easy for consumers to book and receive portable power when they need it, enabling them to resume their lives during outages, as well as allowing other customers to meet their portable power needs for events, job sites, and recreational use. Based on feedback and demand, we will prioritize the expansion to additional Ace Hardware stores in the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond.

Improving features weekly to ensure PwrOn is the most convenient and affordable portable power:

• To give Users more device pickup options, we’ve introduced Commercial Hosts with visibility on company names, address, and open hours
• To give Hosts more control, we've offered them the ability to easily set User pickup or Host delivery options.
• To make it easier for Hosts to promote their listings, we’ve integrated referral codes.
• To make it easier for Hosts and Users, we’ve integrated Intercom agents to provide amazing customer support via phone, email, or chat.
• To expand our offerings of available devices, we’ve added Dabbson 2000L to the list of approved devices, after completion of internal testing.
• To enable Hosts to monetize other brands and models that are not currently listed, we’ve created a mechanism for Hosts to request other brands or models.
